15th Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition
This stamp commemorates the 15th Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition (15ᵉ Exposition Agricole et Industrielle / المعرض الزراعي الصناعي الخامس عشر), held in Cairo in 1936. Organized periodically by the Royal Agricultural Society (Société Royale d'Agriculture), these national exhibitions served as a major showcase for Egypt's economic development, bringing together domestic producers, agronomists, industrial innovators, and foreign trade delegations to highlight advancements in farming techniques, livestock breeding, manufacturing, and agricultural technology.
Beyond displaying national products, the 1936 exposition carried significant political and national importance during the reign of King Fuad I. It was designed to demonstrate Egypt's capacity for self-reliance and economic modernization as the country pushed for greater national sovereignty and industrial growth. The commemorative stamp issue reinforced this narrative, highlighting the grand entrance pylon of the exhibition grounds at Gezira and positioning agricultural progress as a core pillar of modern Egyptian nationhood.
