International Telecommunications Congress at Cairo - 20 millieme

Cairo hosted the International Telecommunications Conference in February 1938, bringing together global delegates, engineers, and postal authorities to deliberate on worldwide communication standards, frequency allocations, and cross-border telegraph, telephone, and radio regulations. As telecommunications rapidly expanded across continents during the interwar period, such international assemblies were vital for harmonizing technical protocols, standardizing operating procedures, and improving global connectivity between Europe, Asia, and Africa.

To commemorate the hosting of this prestigious global assembly, the Egyptian postal administration issued a special commemorative stamp series in early 1938. Releasing dedicated postage for the conference allowed Egypt to highlight its modern infrastructure, technical advancements, and growing role as a vital regional hub for international diplomacy and global communications.
