King Farouk (1920-1965) - 22 millieme
King Farouk I ascended the throne of Egypt in 1936 following the death of his father, King Fuad I. As the last ruling monarch of the Muhammad Ali Dynasty before the 1952 Revolution, Farouk’s reign spanned a pivotal period in modern Egyptian history marked by World War II, ongoing political struggles against British imperial influence, and significant political reform movements across the region. To mark the ascension of the young monarch, Egyptian postal authorities issued a new definitive series featuring portraits of King Farouk wearing the traditional fez. These stamps served as the primary definitive post throughout his reign, providing day-to-day postal service across Egypt while solidifying royal identity and state authority until the monarchy was abolished and the Republic of Egypt was proclaimed in 1953.
