official postage stamp - 20 millieme
This official postage stamp (Amiri / أميري) was issued by the Kingdom of Egypt (Royaume d'Égypte) between 1926 and 1935 during the reign of King Fuad I. Denominated at 15 Milliemes (15 Mils), official stamps of this type were reserved strictly for government correspondence and administrative communications (Service de l'État), rather than general commercial or personal mail. The creation of dedicated official stamps reflected the broader institutional modernization of the Egyptian civil service and postal administration in the decade following the 1922 Unilateral Declaration of Egyptian Independence. By requiring state ministries, judicial bodies, and municipal agencies to use specialized Amiri franking, the Ministry of Finance could systematically track and audit official correspondence volume while preventing the unauthorized private use of state postal services.
